Electrical Technology

MSU-Northern's Electrical Technology program is the only program in the state to offer an Associate of Applied Science degree in conjunction with State of Montana Apprenticeship program.  With an electrical technology degree, students will be prepared to start their career as an apprentice electrician or to continue their education in electrical engineering.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Electrical Technology program is to prepare students for an apprenticeship in the electrical trade, eventually becoming a licensed Electrical Journeyman.

Learning Outcomes for Electrical Technology, AAS

Upon completion of this program, students will understand and apply:

  • Principles of electrical safety, workplace safety, and general safety requirements for the construction site

  • Principles of Residential Wiring, Service Systems, NEC requirements, and Load Calculations

  • Principles of Commercial Wiring, Service Systems, NEC requirements, and Load Calculations

  • Principles of Industrial Wiring, Service Requirements, NEC, and Load Calculations

  • The NEC for proper installation and work ethics
